CineMás: A Latino Film Series
The newest addition to the Coalition’s cultural event calendar, CineMás brings the best of Latin film to Charlotte. With screenings taking place in spring, summer, and fall, each CineMás show will highlight those films that go unseen by most of America. From thought provoking documentaries, to emotional dramas, CineMás shows will you get you thinking, discussing, and understanding more about your Latin neighbors and beyond. Most shows offer authentic food, drinks, and a discussion afterward.

The Latin American Coalition is proud to present CineMás: Orgullo on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Join us for the screening of four Latino LGBTQ films.
Alex y Fabio Ya No Están - Alex and Fabio's intricate relationship is examined through a series of flashbacks, higlighting their intial insatiable desire for one another to the inopportune turn of events that led to the dismantling of their relationship. What resuilts is not only an examination of a broken relationship, but an honest portrayal of modern love and its oftentimes fleeting nature.
Bajo El Último Techo - Beto, an imaginative and precocious 9 year-old, feels creatively stifled by his overbearing grandparents who act as his guardians. He finds an outlet through a friendship he forms with Stephany, his transgender neighbor, who helps him see the world in unexpected ways.
Carreteras - Carmela, a young shopkeeper, leads a serene life in the Mexican countryside. her world is flipped upside down with the arrival of Abril, a vibrant and intrepid force of nature. Carmela must make the decision between keeping her quptidian life intact or pursuing an adventure into the unknown with Abril.

You're Dead To Me - Andrea, a grieving Chicana mother, confronts an uninvited family before her Día de los Muertos celebration. By night's end, death offers her a choice that she couldn't make in life.
Doors open at 6:00 PM and film beings at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $5.00 (CASH & CREDIT ACCEPTED) and can be bought the day of the screening at the Mint Museum Randolph. Please note: Film is in Spanish w/ English Subtitles.
