Día de los Muertos, Day of the Dead: A Festival of Souls
Sunday, November 1, 2009 12PM - 4PM
Levine Museum of the New South
Thank you to the over 1,000 attendees that helped make our 2009 Día de los Muertos a tremendous success! Special thanks also to our sponsors, Food Lion Sabor Latino, the Mexico Tourism Board and the State of Michoacán and the Arts & Science Council.
Our annual festival Día de los Muertos is a local, intimate recreation of the Mexican Day of the Dead tradition. This colorful and vibrant event is held at the Levine Museum in uptown Charlotte. It features traditional foods, expositions of folkloric arts, crafts and dances, and activities for children. This is our 6th year offering this FREE, all-day celebration and it is educational and engaging for all ages. This is the only Día de los Muertos festival in the Charlotte area and this year we expect to attract more than 1,000 participants from our diverse community.
